NERDC is providing the required building blocks for strategic planning, research and development in education that will guide the formulation and effective implementation of related government policies. In so doing the Council has participated actively in the on-going turnaround process in the education sector in particular and in the on-going reform policy of Government. In 2005, the following targets were set and some have been achieved:
* Establish a network that will encourage the sustain partnerships with
relevant parastatals, tertiary institutions as well as relevant educational
research agencies in Nigeria and elsewhere that share similar vision with
her.
* Carry out local level driven policy dialogues with critical operators in
educational research and development. This will establish confidence
building and transparency among stakeholders within which we can act
with one purpose.
* Facilitate the development of relevant curricula and instructional
materials for all levels of education, which will meet the needs of the
emerging society.
* Promote the publication of high quality educational research findings that
will inform developmental and socio-economic reform activities through
the establishment of the Journal of Research and Development in
Education (JORED).
* Conduct educational research with developmental implications in concert
with local consultants, international agencies and international support
